What to Expect Before Treatment

Your RHA® journey starts with a comprehensive consultation where we’ll assess the areas you’d like to improve and discuss your aesthetic goals. We’ll evaluate how your face moves naturally and determine which RHA® formula—RHA® 2, RHA® 3, or RHA® 4—is best suited for your specific needs. Each formula is designed for different depths and areas of concern. We’ll photograph the treatment areas and explain exactly what you can expect. To reduce the risk of bruising, avoid blood-thinning medications, supplements, and alcohol for several days before your appointment.

What to Expect During Treatment

On treatment day, we’ll begin by cleansing your skin and applying a topical numbing cream if needed. RHA® fillers also contain lidocaine for added comfort during the procedure. Using a fine needle or blunt-tip cannula, we’ll strategically inject RHA® into the targeted areas based on your customized treatment plan. The technique we use depends on the area being treated and your desired outcome. Most patients describe the sensation as brief pinching or pressure. Treatment typically takes 15 to 30 minutes, and you’ll be able to see the immediate improvement before you leave.

Is RHA® Right for You?

RHA® is ideal for adults who want to address moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles and folds while maintaining completely natural facial movement. You may be an excellent candidate if you’re concerned about lines around your mouth (nasolabial folds), wrinkles extending from the corners of your mouth (marionette lines), or other expression lines that appear with movement. RHA® provides long-lasting results, with effects typically lasting 12 to 15 months in dynamic facial areas—longer than many traditional hyaluronic acid fillers in areas of high movement.

Aftercare Tips

Proper aftercare helps maximize your results and minimize side effects:

  • Ice the Area - Apply ice packs for short intervals during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling
  • Avoid Touching - Don't massage or manipulate the treated areas unless specifically instructed
  • Stay Upright - Keep your head elevated, especially while sleeping for the first night
  • Skip Intense Activity - Avoid strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours after treatment
  • Limit Heat Exposure - Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, and excessive sun for a few days
  • Be Gentle with Skincare - Use gentle products and avoid harsh treatments for the first week
  • Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water to support your skin's healing process
